Elze, Dr. med. Kathrin
Specialist for neurology and psychiatry
The neurologist practice within the ATOS Clinic has specialised in neurological pre-operative diagnostics and determination of indications as well as neurological / psychiatric post-operative care. Our efforts shall prevent neurological complications and detect and treat accessory neurological / psychiatric symptoms at an early time, respectively.
Apart from that, our practice has a neurological / psychiatric / psychotherapeutic profile with all possibilities of prevention, early detection and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Range of services
- Treatment of patients with Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy and strokes / cerebral haemorrhages
- Neurological / psychiatric expert opinions (for pension insurance carriers, social courts, civil action, private insurance companies)
A central area of work are central nervous system disorders and their prevention, diagnostics and therapy, such as perfusion disorders of the brain, inflammable and degenerative diseases of the brain and bone marrow like Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson disease, with a variety of modern diagnostic and therapeutic options. A particular interest of our work is directed at the treatment of epilepsy.
During the past few years, our team has specialised in geriatrics comprising the detection, prevention and treatment of disorders / diseases occurring in advanced age such as dementia and special old-age forms of mood disorders. In this respect, we have developed a training programme for maintaining and improving the cognitive, mnestic and creative-associative brain functions.
Our range of work includes the exact identification and treatment of nervous injuries and disorders of the peripheral nerves. This area is highly significant for the collaboration with other specialist areas (surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine). Diagnostics and therapy of neurological disorders is objectified and complemented by means of state-of-the-art medical-technical equipment.
The psychiatric and neurological component of our work covers another wide range of disorders and their treatment, starting with temporary mood and functional disorders through to the treatment of psychoses using the respective methods of psychotherapy (depth psychology, behavioural therapy, hypnotherapy, systemic therapy) and therapy with neuroleptics and thymoleptics.
The therapeutic variety offered by our team is further enhanced by acupuncture. We develop individual treatment plans for different therapeutic tasks, be it palliative therapy, ideal weight, smoking cessation, addiction treatment, stress control, tinnitus treatment, treatment of anxiety, sleeping disorders, fatigue therapy. We work in compliance with holistic medical principles using an allopathic, hypnotherapeutic approach supplemented by methods from traditional Chinese medicine.
In cooperation with the oto-rhino-laryngologist Dr. med. Andreas Horn and the hearing aid acoustician Mr Kilian, we guide the treatment of patients with chronic tinnitus in the Tinnitus Centre Heidelberg within the ATOS Clinic.
Further, an important area of work is the preparation of neurological, psychiatric, psychosomatic, traffic-medical and custody expert opinions.
