Schneider, Dr. med. Stefan

Specialist for radiology with qualification in nuclear medicine

Dr. Lederer, Dr. Schneider, and Dr. Wrazidlo have worked together in the Radiological Centre of the ATOS Clinic since 1991. The team has comprehensive experience in cross-sectional diagnostics (computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging) in the sports-medical sector in particular.  A speciality are CT-controlled periradicular / peridural injections (PRT) in case of intervertebral disc prolapses.

Radiology is the medical area applying electromagnetic radiation and mechanical waves for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging method used for diagnostic purposes. It is based on very strong magnetic fields as well as electromagnetic alternating fields.

Nuclear medicine comprises the application of radioactive substances and nuclear-physical procedures in medicine for functional and localisation diagnostics and of open radionuclides for therapy.

The decision of which procedure should be used in an individual case is made by the radiologist, possibly in consultation with the referring physician and the patient.

The radiological centre is equipped with state-of-the-art devices:

  • two 1.5 Tesla MRI systems (Philips Tomoscan Intera) with advanced SENSE technology for optimum heart diagnostics
  • MRI system (Philips Tomoscan T5 NT) and a high-field Open MRI (Philips Panorama): www.open-mrt-heidelberg.de
  • 16-slice Multislice Spiral CT (Philips Brilliance CT)
  • dual-head ECT camera for nuclear-medical examinations (Philips Axis-VT dual-detector system)
  • digital direct radiography system for creating fully digital x-ray images (Swissray Multi ddR) with reduced radiation
