Zink, Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. habil. Peter-Michael

Specialist for neurosurgery

The Spine Centre of the ATOS Clinic Heidelberg is characterised by the close, trustful and cooperative collaboration of two excellent representatives of their profession:

  • Associate Professor Dr. med. habil. Peter-Michael Zink, neurosurgeon
  • Dr. med. Jochen Feil, general and trauma surgeon

In both practices of the ATOS Clinic’s Spine Centre, degenerative diseases and injuries of mainly the cervical spine and the lumbar spine are treated using conservative or surgical procedures.

Here, the patients receive competent help on the highest medical level. Surgeries at the spine are technically highly complex and challenging interventions. By applying advanced state-of-the-art microsurgical and minimally invasive surgery methods, treatments are possible and safe today which had seemed unthinkable not very long ago.

Microsurgery

Since 1986, Associate Professor Zink has applied microsurgical operation methods exclusively – using a binocular surgical microscope  which, contrary to endoscopic techniques, allows a stereoscopic view even in the depth of the surgical area. Microsurgery allows for short post-surgical treatment times, attractive cosmetic results, and a fast re-integration of the patient into the professional and private life.

Proficient rehabilitation

Both practices of the ATOS Clinic’s Spine Centre closely cooperate with outpatient rehabilitation centres and rehabilitation clinics. Close professional exchange of information, short communication channels, and the personal contact with all colleagues and therapists involved in the patient’s treatment are prerequisites for an optimum outcome in rehabilitation.
